Hikes and walks are back!

OK, after a few false starts, we are back on the trail. We're opening 2022 with a New Year's resolution you can join in -- Walk into Wellness. Walk into Wellness is a 6 week series of easy walks and hikes. It starts February 12 and goes through March 19. You don't need to be able to join all of the hikes to participate. Of course, the more you join, the more fun you'll have (and the fitter you will be)!

We'll be adding some one-off hikes and walks too, as the season progresses. And Cancer to 14K will ramp up in the spring. Cancer to 14K is our 12-week hiking-based conditioning program.

You can find and register for our upcoming walks and hikes on the "upcoming walks and hikes" page. The Cancer to 14K page has information on that program.

If you're new to Live By Living, "walks" are on paved or improved surfaces (think bike paths, sidewalks, gravel trails), and "hikes" are on dirt trails. Walks tend to be easier than hikes -- they are generally shorter and have less elevation gain. That said, we do offer some pretty easy hikes. Footing can vary on trails -- there may be rocks, tree roots, uneven or tilted surfaces, etc., so if you have balance issues, you will probably want to bring some hiking poles on our hikes, or maybe stick to the walks. Feel free to ask us about trail conditions for any of our hikes if you are unsure.

Recovering from cancer is no walk in the park . . . . But, walking in the park IS recovering from cancer.
Exercise is key for cancer survivors -- it helps you feel happier, be stronger, and (at least for breast and colon cancer) live longer. Experts recommend cancer survivors get at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity exercise weekly. Make a live By Living hike or walk part of your 150 weekly minutes, and get a dose of nature at no extra charge.

Fit, fun, friendly, free! Our walks are paved, generally flat, easy, and usually a mile or less (with options to go farther). Come on out and join us!
Day Hikes
This is where you can literally tell cancer to "Take a Hike!" We've got the Front Range covered, as well as Durango. Hikes come in 3 sizes -- easy, moderate and difficult.
Cancer to 14K
Cancer to 14K is a 12-week hiking-based conditioning program. Feel good again, and climb a mountain along the way! Climb Grays Peak or complete another 14K goal.
